A Ministry of the Sisters of Bon Secours

We first opened the Bon Secours Retreat and Conference Center to outside groups in October 1968. In 1969 there were a handful of other retreats brought in, but there was no expectation that these would turn into a robust ministry of the Sisters of Bon Secours, let alone thrive for 50 years and serve hundreds of thousands of participants. There is still an undisputed beauty in our Center and the 313 acres of woodland and farmland, and we have worked hard to maintain the property as “Holy Ground.” Celebrating 50 years of service, the words of Bishop T. Austin Murphy at the 1965 dedication of our property continue to describe the atmosphere characterizing the Bon Secours Retreat and Conference Center: “Behold the dwelling place of God.”
