An Advent Retreat: Prepare Ye the Way of the Lord
Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. Matthew 3:3
It is Advent again. The Lord is coming, always coming! Are you longing for Christ to come alive in you this Advent? How do we put God first during this busy season? This retreat is about preparing to receive the gift of Christ by learning how to wait on God. As we wait on God in silence, we prepare our hearts and minds to receive the most important Christmas gift, the gift of Christ.
At this retreat you will learn skills and practices that help you to let go of your agenda and put God first in your life. It is also about learning to engage silence in your life. You will practice learning to listen for God using two Christian meditation practices. You will be introduced to the gift of contemplative prayer and its benefits to your spiritual life. You will also learn how God changes your brain when you meditate and practice mindfulness, allowing you to become more loving and compassionate and less fearful and anxious. Before you leave, you will be invited to make a plan for Advent.
In addition, you will experience a safe environment to openly share with others. We hope that you will accept this invitation to prepare to receive the gift of Christ this Advent. Guided by Kathy Anderson.
