The Creator of our hearts has planted in each of us a deep and persistent longing for infinite love and union. Yet, we cannot bring about the union we seek. Fortunately, hidden deep within us is a capacity for God in which we discover that we are the very manifestation of the God we seek. Thus, the indwelling presence and the love of God poured into our open hearts invite us to experience the joy of union in this life. Through shared silence, and personal and communal prayer, we will open our hearts to this infinite love of God available to us now. The framework for this day of reflection will be the two open questions Francis of Assisi is said to have prayed relentlessly—“God, who are you; God, who am I? Our spiritual teachers will be Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross, enriched by the insights of James Finley. This day retreat will be guided by Fr. Phil Cover and will include an optional Mass. An option for silence during lunch will also be available.
