The Franciscan Heart of Thomas Merton *Commuter Option

October 27 @ 7:00 pm - October 29 @ 1:00 pm

SOLD OUT!
Franciscan, Thomas Merton, Father Daniel Horan

During this retreat we will explore the untold story of how the most popular saint in Christian history—St. Francis of Assisi—and the spiritual tradition that bears his name inspired the life, thought, and writing of Thomas Merton, who was the most popular spiritual writer of the 20th Century. Additionally, we will consider how these insights can inspire Christians today. Many people do not have an appreciation for how much the Franciscan spiritual and theological tradition influenced Merton before and after his entrance in to the Trappist Monastery, but after this retreat you’ll be able to see both Francis and Merton in a new light.

This weekend retreat will feature presentation, group discussion and time for personal reflection. Although we encourage guests to stay overnight for a more complete retreat experience, we understand that this isn’t always possible. Commuters should arrive by 7pm for the opening presentation. Lunch and dinner on Saturday, as well as lunch on Sunday, will be included.
