Pay Attention, Be Astonished. Talk about it!
Spend some time on this Friends Day retreat with modern day poet and mystic Mary Oliver. Learn from her prose and poems. Like ancient mystics, Mary Oliver experiences Divine Presence all around her. She invites us all: “To Pay Attention, Be Astonished. Talk about It.” She invites all of us to experience all of creation with a new consciousness, an expanded sense of gratitude for the Sacred, pulsing throughout everything. This March Friends Day of Prayer will be guided by Annie Hisle.
Our Friends Day of Prayer retreats are held monthly on the first Wednesday of the month. Everyone is welcome to attend and you can drop into any month. It’s not required to attend every retreat. Everyone will gather for coffee and pastries for the first half hour. Annie will give a morning presentation, and there will be time for Mass in the Chapel afterwards. A delicious lunch will be served and then she will give an afternoon presentation. Free time will be offered to walk the labyrinth, spend quiet time in prayer or shop in the bookstore.
Annie Hisle is a practicing psychotherapist/bereavement counselor and retired Montgomery Hospice grief counselor and group facilitator. Also a spiritual companion, N Street shelter group facilitator, new author, home bound church minister and ex-offender mentor. She enjoys seven nearby grandchildren, yoga, her Shalem weekly Centering Prayer Group, her bi-monthly women’s group, centering prayer and books, and long walks with her spouse and/or friends.
