An Encounter of Intimacy: Perspectives on Biblical Examples

In this retreat, from biblical perspective, we will explore various ways in which we can learn, develop, and experience an intimate encounter with God. Growing in spiritual intimacy with God is the goal of every Christian. There are countless biblical figures and examples that remind us of this truth. In his letter to the Colossians, St. Paul urges them to continue live fully in Christ: “Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Col. 2:6-7) Thus, the Christian life is not just about knowing the biblical axioms or propositions; rather, it is about living as disciples of Jesus Christ who are being transformed by the grace of God – the free gift of the Holy Spirit. By exploring various ways in we can continue to live in Jesus Christ, we will consider our identity and how God invites us to live in communion with Him, by being truthful with ourselves through humility and obedience. We will cite examples from the Old and New Testaments. Guided by Rev. Hamilton Okeke.

Our Friends Day of Prayer retreats are held monthly on the first Wednesday of the month. Everyone is welcome to attend and you can drop into any month. It’s not required to attend every month. Rev. Hamilton will give this month’s morning presentation, celebrate Mass, and then a delicious lunch will be served in our dining room. There will be a short period of free time and an opportunity to shop in our bookstore and then he will give an afternoon presentation.
