This writer’s retreat is designed for beginners, seasoned writers and those who simply want to better communicate through words. Our days together will include morning presentations about writing, fast writing exercises (prompts), the reading of those writings and dialogue. After lunch there will be three hours to complete a writing assignment, and have time for walking, rest, and personal reflection. In late afternoon we’ll gather to continue writing exercises, reading of assignments and more question and answer time. Evenings might include a film, as well as an exploration of the book each person is asked to read in advance. We’ll also ponder these words of poet David Whyte: “We may only get one chance in a lifetime to break the spell and break the promise that we will not speak in our own voice.”
Assigned book to be read in advance: “Tending to Grace” by Kim Fusco.
Check-in begins at 3pm. Dinner is served at 6pm and the retreat will begin at 7pm.
