MEDITATION PRACTICES FOR SPIRITUAL WELL—BEING
The late Anthony deMello, a Jesuit priest from India who died at age 52, introduced meditation techniques to the Western world that has helped many people to develop deeper awareness, greater joy and inner peace. These simple yet profound meditation practices have enabled individuals to slow down, breathe more deeply, and experience God’s loving presence.
Come and learn about the benefits of meditation and mindfulness and experience meditation practices that can be easily integrated into your daily living.
We will practice more than ten meditation techniques taught by spiritual teachers that foster spiritual wellbeing, inner stillness, and deep peace.
You will take home with you a handout of helpful information and meditation exercises to enrich your daily life.
Wednesday, May 11 Program, 9am-4pm:
FULLY ALIVE IN GOD
NURTURING BODY, MIND, AND SPIRIT
“God’s greatest glory is a person fully alive!” says St. Ireneaus. God’s deep desire is that we develop our total humanness as we journey with God and one another through life.
This workshop will reflect on the meaning and experience of holistic spirituality. We will explore areas such as: being a whole person; body awareness and praying with our body; the interrelationship of body, mind, and spirit; the art of breathing and breath prayer; practical self-care activities, the healing power of affirmations, and other enriching topics.
We will ponder and experience the gift of holistic spirituality through input, creative prayer experiences, and body movement exercises. Come and experience deep healing of body, mind, and spirit!
Both the evening and day programs are guided by Sr. Maureen Conroy.
Maureen Conroy, RSM, D.Min. is Co-director of the Upper Room Spiritual Center, Neptune, New Jersey. Her ministries include spiritual direction, the education of spiritual directors, giving directed retreats, and offering workshops on spiritual direction, supervision, holistic spirituality, meditation and wellness. Maureen also educated spiritual directors for twenty-five years at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska during the summer months. Maureen has offered workshops on spirituality and spiritual direction in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.
Maureen’s educational background includes a Masters of Divinity, a Doctor of Ministry, Certificates in Spiritual Direction, and many Certificates in Holistic Modalities. She is the author of numerous articles and five books, including The Discerning Heart, Looking into the Well, and Experiencing God’s Tremendous Love.
