In the midst of our violent and hurting world we will explore how God, as Lover and Healer, ever invites us to new possibilities and to believe in our potential to make a difference.
Through Scripture, role models, and contemporary stories we will be stretched and challenged to believe in our own call to become mystics, saints and prophets. We will laugh, cry and celebrate as we recognize more deeply the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
Each retreat day will begin with a morning prayer and then a presentation. There will be free time built into the schedule after lunch and then an afternoon session with group dialogue will be held. Most evenings will include a group activity and there will be a special closing ritual on the last evening of the retreat, on Tuesday, before the Wednesday departure after lunch. This 5-night retreat is guided by Edwina Gateley.
This is a women’s retreat. Check-in begins at 3pm on Friday. Dinner will be served at 6pm and the retreat will begin at 7pm.
Edwina Gateley’s life has been described by Publisher’s Weekly as “fascinating – an exceptional blend of contemplation and action”.
Her journey has led her to teaching in Africa, founding the Volunteer Missionary Movement (VMM), sojourning in the Sahara Desert, spending nine months of prayer in a trailer in the woods, befriending and ministering to street people and women in prostitution – “God’s little ones,” and preaching the Good News: God Is With Us.
Edwina is a poet, theologian, artist, writer, and lay minister. She is a single mom and has been described as a modern day mystic and prophet.
She gives talks, conferences and retreats in the United States, as well as internationally while continuing to reach out to women in recovery from drugs and prostitution.
