Through the elasticity of metaphor, poetry provides a direct portal into our own lives. They are our custom-made ground for cultivating awareness, charting the lives we want to lead, letting go of obstacles, nurturing joy, enlivening spiritual practice and dwelling in sacred unity with ourselves, with one another, with all of creation.
Using poems as catalysts, the Portal process has been in continuous use since 2010, and was more recently celebrated at the national conference of the Transformative Language Arts Network in Kansas City in 2015. The process is helpful to everyone, especially those who want to reconnect with the Spirit within to receive guidance, resolve inner turmoil, improve relationships, or for the sheer joy of it!
Please bring a journal or other materials to use during time for quiet reflection. Writers who wish to entice the muse should come prepared! Please note that the last hour of this retreat, from 3-4pm, will be used as free time at the Center, or you may choose to leave at 3pm. Guided by Judith Goedeke.
Judith Goedeke is a poet and acupuncturist who believes that love prevails and healing is real. She believes in the sacred Oneness of all creation. She believes the purpose of difficulty is to help us cultivate compassion. She believes we each have extraordinary gifts meant to be used in service. She believes we exist in Infinite Love, and that is reason to celebrate! Her workshops are welcomed in both spiritual and secular communities, where she has helped countless people find their way back to wisdom, strength and joy through the power of words. Judith is author of River of Silver Sky, a book of poetry by Finishing Line Press. This will be available for purchase in our bookstore.
