Pope Francis proclaimed this year to be a “Year of Saint Joseph”, in his Apostolic Letter Patris Corde (“With a Father’s Heart”) recalling the 150th anniversary of the declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. This letter was written against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic. He says the pandemic has helped us see more clearly the importance of “ordinary” people who, though far from the limelight, exercise patience and offer hope every day. In this, they resemble Saint Joseph, “the man who goes unnoticed, a daily, discreet and hidden presence,” who nonetheless played “an incomparable role in the history of salvation.”
This contemplative retreat will offer an opportunity to contemplate and reflect on the Father’s heart of Saint Joseph as a father in the shadows to overcome the adversity we face in this pandemic. There will be time for group discussion, prayer and quiet reflection. Weather permitting, guests will be able to enjoy the Center’s beautiful grounds too.
“Heart of St. Joseph” retreats will be offered with different themes. Check through our website for more information on other dates. Attend one retreat or attend all!
