The Practice of Spiritual Direction–Final Intensive Week

May 19 @ 7:00 pm - May 24 @ 1:00 pm

spiritual director, spiritual direction, retreat center

This week-long intensive course will provide a deeper foundation for understanding and engaging in the practice of spiritual direction in the Christian tradition. It is intended to enhance the students’ understanding of the spiritual life, with attention given to developing the basic skills required for this ministry.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

This final week of the spiritual direction training program will focus on case studies, which the students will bring from their own, initial practice of spiritual direction. Small groups will provide peer support and supervision. Lectures on specific topics – such as cross-cultural issues and spiritual direction with those alienated from the Church – will also be included in the week.

REQUIREMENT:

The previous two week-long introductory intensives (May & October, 2018) or permission of the instructor

FORMAT:

The class will include some lecture and some interactive exercises. These exercises will be used for practicing some of the skills needed for spiritual direction, such as active listening.

A certificate of completion will be awarded upon completion of the entire program, which includes these three week-long sessions and the required course work. Check-in begins at 3pm. Dinner will be at 6pm and then the program will begin at 7pm on Sunday.

Note: A new group (series of three week-long intensives) for the Introduction to the Practice of Spiritual Direction will begin November 3-8, 2019. If you are interested in learning more, please email Jen Murphy, Manager of Retreat Services, at Jennifer_Murphy@nullRCCBonSecours.com
