What’s in it for me? Finding yourself in the stories of Jesus
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” -Jesus, Luke 10:41-42
Do you see yourself in this story? We sure do. So busy and so distracted at times that we miss the main thing. The Greek word used in this part of scripture for distracted is “perispao” which means to be torn apart, drawn in different directions.
Jesus’ interactions with people and the stories or parables that he told are as relevant to us today as they were back then. Understanding these stories and their context is life-changing for us. We were never meant to just read about other people’s lives in the stories of Jesus, but to see ourselves in them and be transformed by them.
We will take a deep dive into some of the stories of Jesus and learn how to apply their wisdom to our own stories. We’ll learn through teaching, interactive instruction, worship, and prayer. Come spend a day drawing close to the Lord and see what’s in His stories for you personally!
